These hardworking groups would love some extra hands! If you are already registered for the program simply RSVP to the person noted on the invitation and enjoy the day!

If you are not registered yet click here to join - that way we can send you event invitations directly to your email. It is free to join and you will be covered by the extra hands insurance. We would love the extra hands. Happy Landcaring.

Please remember to RSVP to the event organiser - that way they can advise you if there are any changes (eg cancellations due to bad weather). Always wear sturdy boots, bring along gloves if you can, be prepared for all weather and have drinks and lunch/snacks on hand.

Friends of Freycinet

Conservation of Oxleys Road Environment (CORE) working bee to cut and paste spanish heath, broom and also planting shrubs. Please bring gloves, secateurs, mattoks, hammers. Please bring rain coats and hats in case of bad weather. We will supply tea, coffee and cookies etc. It is a wooded gully so strong boots and or gum boots would be advisable.

National Tree Day, presented by Planet Ark and proudly sponsored by Toyota, is Australia's biggest community tree-planting event and a day for all Australians to help out by planting native trees and shrubs at a Tree Day site in their local area. This active group meets on the first Sunday of every month  to look after a five hectare patch of publicly owned threatened black gum forest. Activities include weed management,seed collection, revegetation, fence repair and community education.

This hardworking group endeavours to halt the spread of weed species and eradicate where possible. This working bee will do follow up weeding on missed, regrowth and seedlings.The walk to the worksite is approximately 2.5 km uphill and takes about 45 minutes of more.

Activities include weeding, mulching, planting, watering and pruning.

OCTOBER

Sweeping the Broom -  Maria Island - October 8-13

Here’s an opportunity to visit the “Riviera of Australia” and  learn more about the long-term project to control  Canary Broom in Maria Island National Park. The Friends of Maria will be working on the island from October 8th to 13th, and welcome any new volunteers. Join them as they tackle this serious environmental weed, and help protect the habitat of the endangered forty-spotted pardalote.   Training will be given to anyone not familiar with this type of work.   Tools and safety equipment are provided. Come along for the weekend, or stay for longer if you can.   Free accommodation will be provided.
